Melissa Etheridge – Help Me Be Brave and Crazy Like You!

The first Melissa Etheridge song I heard was probably “Bring Me Some Water” off her 1988 debut which she apparently recorded in four days… Dang!  Then again, it could have been “Similar Features,” or  “Like The Way I Do,” “Chrome Plated Heart.”  Okay, this woman really rocked the s–t out of some stuff.  This debut album is amazing, too!  Wow…

Okay, now I have confused myself… Did I hear this first or come back to it after her second album… Hmm…

Melissa Etheridge – Brave and Crazy

This came a year after her debut and suffered no sophomore slump at all.  In fact, this is one of those albums, in my mind, where every single song is great.  I cannot tell you how many times I listened to this.  Man!

If Janis Joplin and Bruce Springsteen had a baby, Melissa would be it.  She loooves the Boss… And that made me looove her even more… Live she will often do covers of “Thunder Road” and “Born to Run.”  What’s not to love???

Fricking Bono plays harmonica on this one… What?  She sang back up on Don Henley’s The End of the Innocence and has won two Grammy’s (Okay, that is a crime… it should be like 10!) and an Oscar for “I Need to Wake Up” from An Inconvenient Truth.  Nice.

I’m not gonna go track by track as I seriously love them all.  This album is just so good… SO GOOD!  It’s been a while since I put it on, but that is the great thing about this project… I am reconnecting with old, dear friends.  As this one was and is playing, I realized yet again how much I adore and love it.  Truly, I am falling in love with you all over again.

She has been through hell and back health-wise and is now a most respected gay activist, and oh yeah, a Rock N’ Roll superstar!!!  Respect from me on all of that.

Amadeus may rock me, but Melissa Etheridge REALLY ROCKS ME!!!
